Summer Vibes

Where to start? This summer has been busy! It's flown by, and I can't believe that we are already moving into September!

We did a lot in these past 3 months. Countless beach days, the Summer Pops (a local musical event), Toy Story 5, Theater Camp (for Adri Rose), family reunion, and so much grilling out.

While we're not in a rush to end summer, I AM planning ahead and gearing up for Fall. Back to school, extracurriculars (dance, D&D, and Chess Club), and a lot of exciting events coming up with our homeschool group. Oh, and kicking off September with a special 9th birthday coming up! That's right, Piper Mae turns NINE this year!

This summer I got out of my reading slump I was in and found time to read - finally. While I'm sure I'll never hit 2024's 70+ book reading streak, I'm steadily moving into the 30+ range, which is fun. For years, I never tracked the books I read (rest in peace, Goodreads) or how many, and then I started in 2024 and will never look back. It's fun to see which month (ahem, summer) I read more or less. Keeping track of the titles is just a bonus.

As per usual, the kiddos are ALREADY planning out their Halloween costumes, and surprisingly, no one is changing their minds so far (2 of them and I have matching costumes planned, so that's fun). Adri always designs and plans her own, so that's still in progress (and yes, it does take us MONTHS to plan costumes - I will miss this someday).

The garden was less than impressive this year. While we are getting some stuff from it, the weather fought me hard. Too much rain, too cold, then too hot makes for bad growing weather. BUT we currently have 2 very fine pumpkins growing in the front yard, and that's something to say.

It's currently Sunday morning, and my house is quiet and my coffee cup nearly empty. All children are still sleeping soundly (unheard of here at 8am), but I do hear the ducks calling for me outside - begging to be attended to. Other than some yard work, our only plans included Family Dinner at my dad's later and more than likely some bike riding while we are there.

It's been nice chatting. I've been missing this little space and need to come back to it more often - but, being honest? Single mom life has me BUSY ya'll. It's no joke being 100% responsible with the full-time care of three humans - it keeps me on my toes. But I'll try to get back to showing up at least once a month, if only that.

Have a lovely Sunday, and a productive week. ox
