Preparing for the storm
I'm still here. I know I've been missing in action a bit of late. Things have been busy and I seem to be having a lot of trouble finding my rhythm after the holidays. We are slowly getting there though. Yesterday was a slow work day and for the first time in what seemed like forever, I didn't have a single writing project. I spent the day with my girlies. We read books, made mac and cheese for lunch, opened Adri's new KiwiCo crate (you get 60% off your first box through that link!), took a shower in the morning and then a bath before bed and it was so great. I hadn't realized it has been so long since I spent the day with my two girls and few distractions.
I'm sure by now everyone has heard more than they would like about the big weekend storm that we are getting. Unlike everyone else though, we are not running to the store to stock up. Living in the middle of relatively nowhere means that every shopping trip is spent "stocking up". The good thing about living in New York is that when there is a storm and we may lose power it means that it's usually cold outside and we don't have to worry about lack of water (snow) or our food going bad (the outdoors provide excellent refrigeration). Growing up all our power outages were primarily in the summer during hurricane season, and how to keep the food cold and water stocked were the big deal.
That said, we are still waiting to see how much snow we get in the next 24 hours.
I'm here on the couch, curled up next to my early riser (Piper Mae), drinking coffee. I hope you all stay safe and warm if you are in the Northeast, and have a wonderful weekend!
Hope you get through the storm safely! You have a wood stove and a big stash of firewood, right?
