10 ways to fight cabin fever
I'm not sure about you guys but it seems like (at least for me) after all the excitement of the holidays things around here kinda slide into a slump after the New Year. Everything is so busy, festive, and fun, Thanksgiving through New Years and after that it's just January with all of her cold, sleet, ice and snow.
I have a few things I do to try and fight back at these cold, slow days and I thought you might (if you're in the same boat as me) like to try them.
1. Save something for after the holidays. We decided to wait to see the new Star Wars movie until after Christmas. I'm so glad we did. It was something look forward to and we made a date night/afternoon of it.
2. Try new recipes. I decided to try making some different things lately and mix stuff up. It helps to have a new meal to sit down to (even if it turns out to be a dud!).
3. Listen to an audio book. Back when I was milking I used to listen to books on tape all day long. Now that I'm at home most of the time I tend to just listen to music. However, there's few things that can beat listening to a good audio book version of The Lord Of The Rings while you clean the house.
4. Deep clean and/or re-arrange a room. This works well too. It freshens stuff up, gives you something to do, and makes everything seem just a little bit brighter and different.
5. Get out. Go somewhere. It's so easy to hide inside when it's cold outside. It seems like so much work to bundle up and brave the weather but it's well worth it. There's no need to be housebound unless you have ten feet of snow outside your windows.
6. Take a winter vacation. Yes, I know, it's way more fun to do things in the summer. But every February we go away for a weekend and it's so much fun and we have a wonderful time despite the snow and cold. I think this year we are planning on going to an indoor water park.
Or you could always just take your vacation to some place warm!

7. Start a book club. Or something similar liking host a potluck, or have a weekly game night. Seeing people, hanging out, and visiting all work wonders.
8. Learn (or if you already are into something get out there and do it!) a new Winter sport. I'm pretty bad in this area. I don't really like going out in the snow but from everything I've heard skiing is really something I should learn because it's so much fun. We'll have to see...
9. Join a new group, club, gym, class, something. Winter is the perfect time to meet new people or pick a new hobby,
10. When all else fails just find a new t.v show to binge watch. Something with about 5+ seasons is a good place to start. There's never anything wrong with curling up on the couch with some popcorn and watching the entire six seasons of Lost (or Downton Abbey, Game Of Thrones, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, or Supernatural, to name a few more).
That's a good list of things to do to beat the winter blah's!
