just a poem

“November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring.”

Clyde Watson

I really love that poem. I remember my mom teaching it to us when we were small (she always put stuff to music, so there's a little tune that we sing it to). I have found the one of the best things about having a child is sharing with her all the little songs and stories that I grew up hearing.
Every morning there is this little song that I sing to Adri that basically goes "good morning, good morning, good morning, dear children". I remember my mom coming in in the morning and singing it to us while we were still sleepy in bed. Ah, such good memories.
I recently found this book for a $1.00 at a thrift store and was I sooo excited. It's a family favorite and growing up we sang many of the songs in it.
Also, speaking of good books. If you are looking for the best book to read (my mom made up tunes for the rhymes and would sing them to us) to your little one this one here is our family's all-time favorite. There are actually two of them but my mom gave this one to Adri for her birthday last year so this is currently the only one we have. I know it's expensive but trust me, it is well worth the price. All of us children still have every single song in those books memorized.

On another note. We have tons of snow outside-it's everywhere. The town plows are out clearing sidewalks and the roads. We are definitely not going to have a white Thanksgiving this year.
Today we are going to make our way up to Wesleytown for a visit. Tomorrow everyone else in the family (beside Adam, Adri and me) are going to be heading down to New England to celebrate Thanksgiving with Wesley, Claire, and Claire's parents, and I'd really like to see them before they leave.

Happy Tuesday!
