::Table Setting::
"The table did look pretty. It was set as a table should be set, with dishes and glasses and silver in the correct places, and napkins neatly folded; and in the center was a small pot of pink primroses in full bloom.

For it would not have been Cornelia if there had not been a bit of decoration about somewhere, and it was like Cornelia when she went out to market,
and thought of meat and bread and milk and butter and all the other necessities, to think also of that bit of brightness and refinement,
and go into a small flower-shop she was passing to get this pretty primrose."

ReplyDelete"Recreations" is one of my favorite Grace Livingston Hill books. I like her later ones the best. My other favorites are:
ReplyDeleteThe Substitute Guest, Brentwood, April Gold Crimson Roses, The Gold Shoe, The Street of the City and Rainbow Cottage. I like to re-read them because they help me want to be a better Christian woman.
I love your blog - just found it recently and it's up at the top of my list.
May you and your family have a blessed day.

We attended The Feast of the Hunter's Moon this morning (a wonderful 18th century reenactment).
ReplyDeleteMy husband spent his budgeted money on food. I spent mine on dried flowers. :)
I've just picked that book up at the library. Looking forward to reading it!
ReplyDeleteRe-creations is my favorite of the Grace Livingston Hill novels. She rose to the challenge of making beauty with what she had ~ so inspiring!
