A Short Cut To Mushrooms....

....and picking mint for tea and gathering clover blossoms.

I could not decided what picture that I liked more, so I posted them both.

White and red clover, out by the greenhouse.

The hen came by to see what I was doing, and decided to stay for a little bit.

And then after I went wild mushroom hunting.

Wild Beefsteak mushrooms, that we harvested last year and cooked up with garlic and bacon and eggs for breakfast.

"Suddenly he produced a large basket from under the seat .' I was nearly forgetting ,' he said. 'Mrs. Maggot put this up for Mr. Baggins with her compliments.' He handed it down and moved off, followed by a chorus of thanks and good-nights.
They watched the pale rings of light round his lanterns as they dwindled into the foggy night. Suddenly Frodo laughed: from the covered basket he held, the scent of mushrooms was rising."

J.R.R Tolkien, The Fellowship of The Ring.

Note:
Always ask for help identifying mushrooms, there are poisonous ones that are VERY similar to the edible ones.
We have an Amish friend (Rudy) that knows a lot about mushrooms, and we always double check with him.

I think that we will cook these up with sausage and peppers for dinner.

This is the best book that I have found for identifying mushrooms.

It has some really good recipes too.

And I love the pictures.
