November Days

November comes And November goes,

With the last red berries And the first white snows.

With night coming early, And dawn coming late,

And ice in the bucket And frost by the gate.

The fires burn And the kettles sing, And earth sinks to rest Until next spring.”

Clyde Watson

We are slowly slipping into our Winter routine over here. Slower mornings, many books. Hot drinking and hearty meals. twinkle lights, lots of music, and early bedtimes.

I love Spring and Summer, but these chilly days are needed too. Summer is so, so busy, and now we have a moment to step back, and take things easy. And sometimes that's just what you need.

Of course on the other side, there are dreary, chilly coop-ed up days where the kiddos run wild and doubt my mother skills. We ditch all plans and have cereal for dinner and call it a night after way too many episodes of some random tv show.

And that's okay too. I'm working on embracing the good and the not-so-great. Going with the flow, and enjoying the moments.

Moving on to the present, however...

We are heading over to my dad's this afternoon for a big bonfire. Piper is super excited about roasting hot dogs and making some'mores. We are going to have our big Christmas Drawing early this year (we do it on Thanksgiving every year) and pull names for Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, we put up our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I pull out all the Christmas books. If you are looking for some good books to read for Christmas, here are two lists:

COZY BOOKS TO READ AT CHRISTMASTIME

25 BOOKS TO READ TO CHILDREN AT CHRISTMAS TIME

Okay, I'm off to drink coffee. Piper is already awake and Adri is beginning to stir. Have a wonderful weekend, and a great Thanksgiving week!
