We did it! (making it through the first year).

Well, not quite. My baby turns one this week. On June First, to be exact. So, we are almost there.

There's something about that first birthday. I don't know, I guess I feel like a "real" parent now. We survived the first year. We did it. We successfully grew (me, in my belly), and then raised a baby. I feel like we have now entered the "parent club" for real.

(a throwback to last year. 15,19,20,22,23,29,30,33 and 40 weeks pregnant!)

It's strange. In some ways, I feel like it was just yesterday that I was nine months pregnant, and waiting for her to pop out. And then, at the same time, it seems soooo long ago. Another lifetime ago. It feels like she has always been here, with us.

And, guess what? She's walking now! Taking little baby steps, and then stopping to drop to the floor. It's basically the cutest thing I've ever seen. Half-way through walking, she stops and starts to clap her hands, so proud of herself.

It's still sinking in. I now longer have a newborn/little baby/busy baby/six month old/eight month old, etc.
I have a one year old toddler. There. I said it.

Wow. So crazy. And so awesome :)

  4. That first birthday is really something, isn't it? And it doesn't get any less awesome with subsequent children. Our son Israel is a few months older than your Adri and, though he's a third child, I'm awe-struck by every milestone. For his first birthday I made him a (disastrous) sweet potato cake. It was such a flop, but the kids forgave me!
