plans for the weekend+an old post.

This morning we woke to a shining sun, and frosty air. Ah, it's crazy to think we are almost done with February now! Wow. We're already two whole months into the new year?!
Soooo, it's Friday, and that mean the weekend is starting! Yay!
So, what are our plans? The library is having their winter book sale, so we are helping to set up tonight (thereby getting first dibs on books!), and then also going over tomorrow morning. I have to run to the landfill at some point, and then tomorrow night Julia and I are going to have a little girls night out, and go watch the new Nicolas Sparks movie :)
On Sunday afternoon we are celebrating three birthdays up in Wesleytown, at my mom and dad's. So a bunch of the family will be gathered together. What fun!

Lately we've just been busy fighting off the winter blues. I'm not sure about you guys, but I am MORE than done with winter. I'm longing for warmth, longer days, sunshine, and swimming.
However, I've been trying really hard to stay positive, and just enjoy the season, knowing that "this too shall pass".

About the post below: every now and then I quickly check through my draft folder, to make sure I haven't inadvertently missed posting something that I had all ready, but forgot about (I usually have two or three posts ready to blog ahead of time). I found this very old post from some point in early September of 2015, and felt like I should post it, in the spirit of keeping things real ;)
Happy reading!

photo from at the hospital, when Posie was just hours old.

Sometimes I rise up early. I drink my coffee, have my devotions, clean my house, take my 5 mile walk, give my little one a bath, do my stretching, and have dinner in the crock-pot cooking by noon.

Other days? Other days I don't get out of bed until the wee one wakes at 8:30/9:00. I drink fifteen cups of coffee, that don't work. I sit in my p.j.s, in a messy house, holding my little lady. I have no clue what is for dinner, and take a very long afternoon nap.

Some nights, Adri falls asleep at 8:30, and Adam and I get a bit of time together, before he crashes into bed at 9:00 p.m (he get up at 3:30 a.m). Most times, she stays awake, sometimes happy, other times not. She finally falls into a sound sleep at 11:30 p.m and I crash into bed (as in the past five nights).

The truth is, I'm realizing that everyone has in their mind what a "productive" day should be. At least, I know I do. And I'm working hard at accepting that even though I don't always get done what I want (or need!) to, it's not a wasted, or "lost" day.

I'm sure part of it is called having-a-new-baby-in-the-home, but at the same time, I'm sure a large part of it is just called LIFE.  And this my life right now. happy, lovely, busy, crazy, beautiful, tiring, overwhelming, and awesome.

I've been trying hard to not think of the days as "good days" and "bad days". Each day is just the right one, and goes exactly as the Lord has planned. I am trying to go with the flow, and accept each day and what it brings. Choosing to see each one as the perfect day.

"A person plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps."

  1. Such a good "forgotten draft"! Give your mom a hug for me!

People ask a lot how we have such a good home library. For the most part it was from years of going to library sales. They are still the cheapest way to get good books, especially the "Friends Only" night. It still only cost $10.00 a year to be a Friend of the Library.

  3. I really love your blog, as you probably know, I check in on it often. I used to follow your mother's blog, and I miss it, she was very inspiring, as you are. Life with a little one can be very interesting some days, and I love that you just accept them as they come. Each new day is an opportunity to grow and learn. I love the library here in our little town, have fun at the sale! Have a great week-end!

  5. Lovely post. Exactly how I am feeling this winter and I have no baby blues to speak of. Enjoy your time with the little one, they grow so fast and before you know it, they are grown up. BTW I miss your mom's blog as well, she was comforting to me as we're going through many of the motherly traits at the same time. Tell her we miss her and blessing from her old readers.
