Summertime.

It has been hot here. Very hot. And when it is not hot, it is raining. Not just little sprinkles, but an-all-out-downpour.
But aside from the strange weather we have been getting, things have been both busy and fun. Julia and I went back home to see everyone for the 4th of July and had a wonderful time visiting and catching up on all the Wesleytown news.
The other day we went to a book sale down in town {making a stop after for ice cream-the country store makes the best cones!}, and found some wonderful finds. A Midsummer's Night's Dream, illustrated by Arthur Rackham-for $1.00? I was a very happy girl.

With all the heat and humidity, Julia and I have been making lots of ice cream-hey, how can you blame us? We live on a dairy farm and there is unlimited cream! Not to mention drinking lots of iced tea, cold kombucha and iced coffee...

We have a busy couple of days planned ahead, as Wesley and Claire and their wee ones are making the trip up to come and visit. We are looking forward to seeing them and showing them around Vermont a little while they are here!

And what would a blog post be without a good quote or two {or three!} to end with?

"Do or do not there is no try."

“Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love."

'Curiouser and curiouser!' cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English); 'now I'm opening out like the largest telescope that ever was! Good-bye, feet!' (for when she looked down at her feet, they seemed to be almost out of sight, they were getting so far off).
'Oh, my poor little feet, I wonder who will put on your shoes and stockings for you now, dears? I'm sure I shan't be able! I shall be a great deal too far off to trouble myself about you: you must manage the best way you can; —but I must be kind to them,' thought Alice, 'or perhaps they won't walk the way I want to go!

 Let me see: I'll give them a new pair of boots every Christmas.'

And she went on planning to herself how she would manage it. 'They must go by the carrier,' she thought; 'and how funny it'll seem, sending presents to one's own feet! And how odd the directions will look!"

{fun thrifted mugs!}
