::More traveling...

These past few weeks have been busy ones...we older ones have done a bit of traveling about, over New Years and this past weekend.
Now we are finally home, and getting back about to work and school and such...

Julia, driving (we all took turns...).

Joe is the co-pilot.

Back-seat chaos.
~~~~
After arriving at Sharon's, and getting a good night's sleep, we went to The Waffle House, for breakfast....
Joe.
Julia.
So many choices...
Coffee Art (that might just be the worst caption, ever.).
After breakfast, we headed to the City, to see the sights...
This was a really neat museum that we went to visit.
The penguins are made of recycled plastic.
And this car...all those are *marbles*, pressed into there!
That was one of the neatest things I think I have ever seen...that car just shined!
Just some suitcases??
They were made of cement!
This was made all out of *fish hooks*!
(and it was big, too).
More Art...
The letters keep falling down, on the screen and if you move around, you can make them move...we had fun with that....
More interesting (and I think also totally useless) Art.
I think Julia is lending him a hand....
These horses were really pretty, and they were all over the City, and different things were painted on them.
A Lovely Blue Steed.
I wouldn't mind that for my front yard!
Joe and Me.
Someone made a home run!
We then took ourselves to a most interesting museum, with all this folk art.
A wall of glass...
Lovely hats.
Neat chairs.
These kites were so neat.
Next stop...Churchill Downs.
The gift shop.
Off to Chick-fil-A, for some shakes ( we don't have these near us, and were told that they are one of the best fast food restaurants..)
Then we were off to spend a few days with some more friends.
We had a wonderful visit (if you can't tell by all the pictures).
Autumn.
Abigail.
Taking a walk...
Pinecones....
This reminds me of Alice In Wonderland....
We found a neat old abandoned van, in the woods...
And Joe found a tree to climb...
There is nothing like eggs from your own hens!
Autumn, crocheting....
Visiting...
Lovely shawls, that Autumn made for all the ladies in our family...they are so beautiful!
A birthday cake for Julia...
Early morning light....
Mirror art...
and more....
One of the neatest, most interesting quilts that I have ever seen...that Autumn made as a gift for Joe.
Lucy.
Sophie.
Everyone gathered in the kitchen, on Sunday morning..before leaving for church.
{Abigail, Me, Autumn, and Julia}
~~~
Sunday afternoon we went roller skating with Autumn and Abigail (Mac and Collin had to work).
After we stopped at this neat old mill, there was a nice pond full of ducks...we wandered around, went inside the mill, and walked around .

Autumn.

Playing games in the evening.

Reading.

Collin, Abigail and Autumn taught us new dances...

Collin, Autumn, and Julia.

And one last picture, of "behind the scenes"....

  3. Thank you Rosie for all of the wonderful pictures. I live in Northern KY and tend to travel more towards Cincinnati. However, I recognize Churchill Downs as being in KY. What I am trying to ask :) is.... where is the wonderful museum that you took all the pictures from? Is it in Lexington? I homeschool and we travel around to different museums and this one looks wonderful! I will make you aware of an amazing miniature exhibit in Maysville KY. It is considered the grandest in the U.S.. It is housed in the local museum. People from as far away as Japan routinely visit to see the exhibits that get changed out periodically. Thank you, Amy

  5. Beautiful pictures!

    My mother was from Hardin County, Kentucky. Born in a rural area close to Elizabethtown.

    That is such a beautiful area and just a few hours from me (when the bridge over the Ohio isn't under construction).

    We LOVE Chick-fil-A, there is one near us in the town "over the river and through the woods"... near the Cracker Barrel. ;)

    I stop there at times when I need to wait in town, the Christian music in the background is so different than other places... not to mention their waffle fries.

  6. So much fun to see our home through "your eyes". My favorite photo is the mirror art featuring Julia. I'm not tall enough to capture that! LOL

    We miss you all, and can't wait for you to come back.

    OH! A question for you... did you like Chick-Fil-A? I'm not a fan, though the rest of the family is. I know, I'min the minority. Then again, I don't like the Beatles, either. ;-)

  9. Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
    Road trips with family are great aren't they? They take on a whole new look after the children are a bit older and you don't have a nursing baby crying to be fed in the back seat! We have some pretty funny family trip tales! :)
