what's in my shopping cart

A while back I talked about how we budget for groceries and how often we shop, but I thought it might be nice to actually see a sample of what we buy in a week. This is from when I went shopping last Friday, after Adri's doctor's appointment (I was that crazy lady in the store taking pictures of her grocery cart).
Since we only have one vehicle (although my parents do often kindly let me borrow one of their vans for the day) I have to kinda plan running as many errands as I can/need when I do have one for the day.

Our first stop was the hardware store because they have these great wicker baskets for only $3.99 and Adri needed a new one for her blocks, plus I needed a couple keys made.
Then we headed next door to Big Lots (we don't go there every week, only every month or so). I love that they have organic tea for only $1.50 so I always grab a few boxes. I also got salsa, some rice, pouches for Posie, and twinkle lights that were on sale for only 50 cents a box! I think I threw some more stuff in but this was what was in the cart when I took the pic.

Cart number 2 at Price Chopper. I don't usually shop there since it tends to be pricey but this week there were some good sales and it ended up working out pretty well.
So in the cart we had juice for Adri, fruit, veggies, garbanzos (for hummus), green olives for mama, milk, yogurt, eggs, cheese, and fish. The fish I always keep an eye on because every so once in a while it goes on sale for buy one, get two free. I throw it all in the freezer and we have plenty of fish for the next month or so.

Now I would have also added a few different meats and cold cuts, but we have a ton of meat that's been piling up in the freezer that we need to use so this week I didn't bother to buy any.

That's it! Some weeks of course I need to stock up on baking stuff, more or less veggies, etc. And like I said before, what we buy each week depends on where we are shopping but that's what we bought this week.

  1. I always love seeing what others buy. Thank you for showing us Rosie. Maybe you will think about doing this more often as I bet lots of us love seeing your grocery hauls.
Do you ever buy snack type foods.....cookies, chips and such? You did great buying such healthy food. I need to do better with this.
Hugs and blessings to you and yours!!

    1. Hi Cathy,
Since a bunch of you guys seemed to like this, I might just try to doing this a couple times a month or so :)
Since neither of us are big fans of sweet stuff I never really buy cookies or stuff (if we do want those one of us bakes it from scratch). However, both Adam and Adri LOVE chips (any kind) so we do buy an embarrassing large amount of those! lol
