Shortbread Recipe

As we all know, food always plays a huge part in holiday celebrating. Especially Thanksgiving through Christmas, when everyone gets busy baking cookies, bread, cakes, candy, and pies for eating and (more importantly) as gifts.
While I love to cook I'm not really into baking (other then bread). Inevitably though there is always some occasion that calls for me to bake something sweet and when that happens I always like to have a tried and true recipe on hand.
This Holiday Shortbread is so easy to make and it's also really good (high praise, coming from someone not really a fan of sweet stuff!). So take a few minutes and whip this up and then while it's baking brew a pot of tea. Then come back and thank me later :)

You will need:

2 sticks of butter
1/2 a cup of sugar
2 1/2 cups of flour

To make:

Soften butter and then blend well with sugar.
Add flour and mix until you have a thick dough.
Place in a ungreased 9x9 pan and press it down until it's nice and flat and spread all the way to the edges of the pan.
Score the top if you want.
Preheat your oven to 300 degrees and then bake for about 45 minutes (or until nicely browned).

Feeds 8 small eaters or 4 hungry ones.

    1. Shortbread is a favorite around here too. It's so easy and quick to make! I'm curious what you would replace the butter with, if you do't mind sharing :)

  2. Hi Rosie, I want to make this but I don't understand the baking instruction. What do I turn the oven back to?
