a book of her own (keeping the memories within arm's reach).

One of Adri's favorite things to do is go find the (two) family photos that I have framed and pull them down, bringing them to me saying "Dadda!" and "Mama!". Two photos. Yeah, I know, it's pretty sad.
Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of photos printed out, it's just that I don't have a way for her to easily look at them.

Enter Shutterfly's new Make My Book Service. I was so excited when they contacted me asking if I'd like to try it out. I had already been thinking of how to have photos more accessible for Adri to look at and this was the perfect solution to my problem.

It was easy too! I just selected the style and size book I wanted to make, uploaded the pictures I wanted to use in the book, arranged them in the order I wanted, and that was about it. I also had the option to just send it all in to a designer and they would put everything together for me, but being kinda picky with my photo layout I opted out on that ;)

I made a book that featured everything Adri loves to do. Reading, playing outside, riding in her Ergo carrier, sleeping, etc...

You guys. She loves this book. We got it the other day and she has already read it about fifty times (I kid you not)! She points to everyone in the book that she recognizes, and we talk about all the fun stuff she has done in the past.

Also, in case you are wondering, the book itself is great too. Even the low(er) quality phone photos that I put in it came out perfect. The pages are thick and the binding sturdy. Just perfect for my little grabby-handed toddler!

Now I just want/need to make about ten more of these books. I'm thinking one about the changing seasons, one about cooking, one from our travels...the list keeps going on and on.

  1. Our daughter had one of these made as a gift for us last Christmas. Aren't they awesome?! Ours was "Thanksgiving 2015"...so all pics of our Thanksgiving day. I just treasure it !
She told me about all the extra things you could put in them. Of course, it all adds up, money wise ! I definitely want to do more.
Adri looks quite enthralled with her book ! Darling cover, by the way. :)

    1. I'm thinking of making these for Christmas gifts too! I love it so much. It's so nice to have so many pictures in one place!
It is a bit expensive, but I could have also pick a smaller (and thus less costly) one. But I really wanted to have the pictures large for Adri to view :)

  3. What a wonderful idea. That looks like such a beautiful book. I know that babies at that age do love to look at pictures of babies but this is really neat.

A lot of people have their pictures rotating through in an electronic picture frame which is fun to watch but there is nothing like holding a book and letting your eyes and hands move through at your own pace. Plus this will be a treasured keepsake for generations.

    1. Carl, I've seen those frames before too, but you're right, there's nothing like holding a book! Adri loves being able to slowly go through it and point out everybody. It's so sweet how much she loves HER book. lol
It's seriously one of the best things I've gotten and I'm really not kidding about wanting more of them!
I'm thinking I might make some for the grandparents for Christmas also...
