Winter Bucket List.

We had a wonderful weekend. It was a busy one, and filled with lots of visiting, and food :)
On Friday night Julia and I went to see Mockingjay pt. 2 (Adam stayed home with Midget) and it was fantastic! I loved every minute if it.
Saturday I got a bunch of decorating done (no tree yet though!), and we went and had dinner over with Wesley and Claire (they are still in town for a few more days).
Sunday we caught up on sleep, made a yummy breakfast together, cleaned the house, I read, Adam set up a terrarium for me (wonderful man that he is!), and we went for a long walk. When we got home I made dinner (baked acorn squash stuffed with rice), and showed Adam Davy Crockett and The River Pirates--can you believe he'd never watched it as a kid??

And now, it's cold. And, as much as I love the holidays, but hate the cold and snow. Well, okay. Not all the snow. I like the first snow and the last snow.
Anyway. Since my Fall Bucket list was such a success I've decided to make a Winter one, and put down a short list of things to enjoy this cold, snowy season.

So, here goes:

For the holidays:
+Watch some good Christmas movies.
+Bake sugar cookies.
+Decorate like crazy.
+Go see the lights.
+Take 25 envelopes/things. Write down a different thing to do, book to read, or chocolate to eat and put each thing in an envelope. Randomly write numbers 1-25 on each envelope/package.Open (and do whatever it says) each night until Christmas. I really wanted to do this last year, but only found the idea when it was too late and about a week before Christmas.

For the rest of the Winter:
+Make a big batch of hot chocolate mix.
+Light candles. All the time.
+Go on at least one long hike in the snow. Maybe on snowshoes?
+Learn to ski. Yup. True confessions, I've lived in both Vermont and New York, and have never skied.
+Mix up a big batch of cookie dough, stick it in the freezer to have on hand when company comes over.
+Go out with Adam and see The Force Awakens in the theater. This would be a big one, as we have not gone out on a date without the Squishy yet.
+Take a trip to a museum.
+Go on at least one out of State trip. Particularly when it's the end of January and we are going stir crazy.
+Make lots of egg nog.

And keep getting more ideas from this.

  2. Thanks for sharing the envelope idea. I am on that pronto! I like making memories and traditions each year.

She is getting so big and changing everyday. Soon she'll be rolling around the floor.

The quilt is beautiful. I am making a Log Cabin quilt. I have to put the batting in and then the back. What a job!

Your home is so pretty. I love all the plants and candles. You are making it beautiful for your family.

Enjoy your days and keep warm. Do you miss the wood stove?

  5. Hi Kim, yes, I SO miss having a woodstove! I can't wait until we have our own place and can have one again.
Adri's already rolling around everywhere and I'm starting to have trouble keeping up with her! lol I'll turn around and she's on the other side of the room!
I've never made a large quilt (only doll size) and it seems like it's a really big job! Maybe someday I'll get up the courage and give it a try ;)
