Monday.

A lovely morning, lots of warm sunshine- a walk is a definite must, as I am sure these are the very last of the nice days here, before the long Winter days hit.

Yesterday we celebrated Stan Lee and Nicholai's birthdays, with a dinner of meatball subs, salad, and trifle for dessert.

In the kitchen there is bubbling a big pot of turkey stock, ready to be used for a lunch of French Onion Soup.....the little ladies are working on making pot holders....Nicholai is at the table, sudying math....and I am hearing plans to make some candy lollipops this afternoon.

Below are a few quotes from a book I started, that a friend has been telling me that I really must read.

“That's what I love about reading: one tiny thing will interest you in a book, and that tiny thing will lead you to another book, and another bit there will lead you onto a third book. It's geometrically progressive - all with no end in sight, and for no other reason than sheer enjoyment.”

“I have gone to [this bookshop] for years, always finding the one book I wanted - and then three more I hadn’t known I wanted.”

“After all, what's good enough for Austen ought to be good enough for anyone.”

  2. I kept hearing about it and picked up a copy. I must be the only person in the world who just didn't like it! :)

  4. Homemade potholders work the very best! I wish the loops were less expensive. It is a very fun craft for the little girls.
