:~:summer sewing:~:

Last week before work I had a bit of time to spare, and a nice big piece of fabric. The result? This new dress~which I am very pleased with....it is the perfect length, color, style and fits just right.

In fact, I liked it so much I made another, almost just like, the other day, out of an old Hanna Andersson dress of my mom's. It is so much fun to be able to re-purpose clothing, isn't it?

Sophia also has a new skirt, a rather cute one in fact, and I'll have to take some photos of it when I get the time.

:On another note, a few things around the web that I have been enjoying lately:

:Tonia's lovely blog, the photos especially, so beautiful.

:A few nice quotes that I read recently:

"Cultivate only the habits you are willing to have master you."
::Elbert Hubbard

"Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his own level and then beat you with experience."

::Alan Zimmerman

"First love is alright, as far as it goes. But last love, that's what I'm interested in."
::Edge of Love

A wonderful article, that a friend posted on Facebook.

And here, at home. There has been lots of busy-ness, sunshine, cooking {there is a great big pot of turkey soup-in-the-making simmering on the stove, from yesterday's turkey dinner~the house is filling with delicious smells}, lots of long walks, a garden full of weeds, and a line full of laundry!

We also had the sadness this past weekend, of losing our very dear dog, Charlotte. We got as a puppy, and she had been a member of our family since Sophia was just a wee babe. We will miss her so much, Nicholai especially, as she was {by her own choice}, mainly his doggy.

Nicholai, Sophia, and Charlotte, last October.

  4. Your sewing is just beautiful. I never seem to make the time to sew any more and I just love to do it. I am always inspired whenever I read your blog. I'm so sorry about your loss of Charlotte. We have lost two of our close companions in the past few years, and it seems they leave a hole that just can't be filled.
