around the home and in the kitchen.

::We have had a busy weekend here. We celebrated Mama's birthday on Sunday, with a big meal, and lots of chocolate cake.

::There is lots of cold snow outside. Just when we thought that spring was here and we were getting trough winter with hardly any snow~it came! We are just all hoping that it is planning on leaving sometime in the near future....

::We have been spending time in house, reading, creating, cooking, and in between, enjoying watching episodes of a family favorite~River Cottage (if you have never seen it, you really must go and watch a least one episode {Youtube has some}, and then you can come back and thank me ;)

::Yesterday we tried our hands at potato chips for the first time {and they turned out rather well, we thought}! Nicholai, Sophia and I took a walk down the road and around our neighbor's pond, it was cold and windy, but it still felt really good to get outside and see the sun.

::Reading and enjoying this, this, and this, and listening to this song.

My knitting basket~it is full of finished projects, half-finished projects, and many (many) projects that are not yet begun....

This is so great.
A very wonderful and thoughtful friend made me this "Gandalf Staff"! It is tall, knotty, smooth, and even has my name carved on it!

It will be so nice when we are able to use the clothesline again, and not have to keep using the drying racks in the house...

The Busy Little Artist.

Memory, a very much enjoyed game around here...

My new hair clip {I have been needing one in a new size for some time now}, a kind (and useful!) gift for my birthday, from the bros.
These are the best hair clips that I have found yet, not to mention, they are so pretty too.

Nothing like a mug of tea...

A wonderful salad for lunch, with lots of cheese, pintos, onions, carrot, tuna fish, and topped with homemade salad dressing.

Making flat bread to go with dinner.

Potato Chip making....

Concentration.

All done (and let me add, they were so good!).

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

  6. So glad to see Carolyn's post about Persuasion here. She's a lovely person and we're in the springtime of friendship. :)

Thank you SO much for the River Cottage link. Can't wait to watch some of them on YouTube. I have one of their cookbooks and love it.

I bought a couple for Elisabeth's gifts through the years. We both love The River Cottage Family Cookbook.

She's my oldest grandchild at age ten. For her February birthday, I sent her The West Ladies' breadmaking DVD and I preordered the new Pioneer Woman recipe book... exactly what she requested.

  9. Lovely photo's!! I love your new hair clip. I have let my hair grow long and now I need bigger hair clips to hold my hair up or else it goes into the meals that I am preparing for my family!! I have also read Persuasion and I have loved the movie with Ciaran Hinds as Captain Wentworth even more. If you have not seen it, you can get it at your local library for free. I never rent anything, I always go to the library. Did you fry the flat bread in coconut oil? It looks so tasty and healthy. God bless and have a blessed day, Rose

  12. Here, too, it was colder than all winter, and my friends in Jerusalem enjoyed snow! But spring is just around the corner. :-)

  13. Hi Deanna! I really liked Persuasion too :) Hello to everyone there!

Hi Anne :) I will give my mom that hug! Love you :)

Hi Amy, I think there is a size chart on the website, but I got a size large ( I had a size small before, and it was not big enough). The size small fits Aimaija, and she has really fine hair, and it is about mid-back length. My hair is almost past my waist, and it is very fine~ the size large works really well for it.

Anonymous, I am actually not sure what kind it is.

Elizabeth, the beans were just kidney beans, with some seasonings~ cumin, chili powder, salt, red pepper, and onion...

Hi Brenda, you are so welcome. The River Cottage Family Cookbook was the first time I heard anything about River Coottage~I got it for my birthday a few years back...and it is now one of favorites, the little ones love to have toast fingers and soft boiled eggs for breakfast! :)

Raquel, I am SO jealous!! You sure you don't want any snow?? We have plenty to spare ;) Love you!

    Melissa, thank-you :)

Hi Rose, yes, I have seen that version, and really like it :)
The flat bread it just cooked in a cast iron skillet, without anything in it.

Emily, we have quite a few chocolate cake fans here, too!

Anna, we are holding out hope that spring is on it's way, sometime soon too :) Hello to you,and a big hug to you :)
