~Autumn...

Yes, it seems that fall is here at last.

We have pulled out the sweaters and shawls, and the woodstove is heating up the house in the morning.

The garden has turned into a jungle, but we are still harvesting tomatoes, squash, and the pumpkins are beginning to change from green into a lovely orange.

The other day we made a couple of pies, out of apples picked from the farm, over where Stan Lee works.

We have still been getting plenty of walks in, enjoying the warm afternoon sunshine, and all the beautiful colors of the season.

~~
Autumn Leaves.
"Leaves in the autumn came tumbling down,
Scarlet and yellow, russet and brown,
Leaves in the garden were swept in a heap,
Trees were undressing, ready for sleep."
::
Leaves

"How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow. "

  1. I am missing autumn. At least it is no longer 100 degrees here!

  2. Lovely poems, Rosie. You always find such nice verse.

It is autumn here too - I took the backroads today to go to the dairy to get our milk and it was so lovely. Not a lot of change yet, but the light is different this time of year.

We tried pumpkins this year - I think we need to try a different location with more sun.

    Thanks for sharing.

  5. It is so strange to hear you talk about Autumn as Spring is beginning here. I am watching the trees daily dress themselves in greenery and listening to the birds chorus in the shrubbery. We too have our fires on in the evening but the days are warming rather than cooling. What a wonderful world we live in.
