  1. Such Loveliness! Question-What are you using for lamp oil? I've not seen the red. Is it kerosene?

Side note- I was looking through your Jane dresses. My five year old came up and said, "It's Sense and Sensibility". I kept scrolling and he correctly identified Jane from P&P and said, "It's Miss Molly Gibson!" Not having seen Becoming Jane he couldn't identify that one. ;) Not bad for a little boy. Now he''s back to building cars with his legos, but he wanted me to tell you all the dresses were very pretty.

  5. Cute! :)
I make my cinnamon rolls the same way...but I was curious as to what frosting you use to put over them? I have not found a recipe that I like, just right...and your frosting looks wonderful!

I hope you each enjoy your weekend!

  6. Hey! Been lurking for a while. We enjoy reading the quotes you find SO MUCH! You must keep a notebook with you all the time. Some of those people we have never heard of.

We also enjoy seeing new sewing projects and recipes. Didn't get to use our lamps since we didn't loose power during those "frequent" snow storms. We look forward to your next post! :)

  7. I was wondering what lamp oil you use, too.

Kimberly is my "blog" daughter. Her story about her son reminded me when my first two grandchildren were quite little, Stephanie said they were playing and talked about "going to town".

She realized they were talking about Bath... not Boston. :)

Love your updates! hmmm. . . maybe tomorrow I will begin one of my Pay it Forward projects. . . Hmmm which one to start - you, or Julia or Joseph? Hmmmm indeed! LOL

  9. Lovely...

Your cinnamon rolls are so scrumptious looking! I may have to make some, perhaps for Sunday morning!

I would be interested in your red lamp oil too. Is it a certain brand?

    Have a delight-filled weekend!

    Your friend,
    Deanna

  11. Thank-you for all your sweet comment everyone :)

We use red kerosene in our oil lamps, for all who were wondering.

Raquel, start on mine first for sure! ;)

Katy, all the frosting is is powdered sugar, with a little bit of milk added, until it is the right consistency.... it does work well for cinnamon buns though.

  12. I just recently found your blog and love it! I have a question and I hope I don't come off sounding too stupid!! I have a couple of oil lamps and use the oil from our local craft store. It burns so quick and the flame is so small it is hardly worth lighting it. I do love the way they look. I am not sure if it is the oil or what. Where do you get your oil? Thank you so much and hope you have a lovely day!

  15. Cleaning the glass on the oil lamps reminds me of something my mother used to say. She was born in Kentucky long before electricity made its way to the countryside, so of course they used oil lamps. My grandmother kept a nice house, but Mama said she knew when company was expected because her older sister Ruth cleaned the glass chimneys. Thanks for the memory.
