~Quietness...

Things are very quiet and peaceful here right now. We have snow drifting down outside and the wood stove burning hot inside.
I can hear, upstairs, the little gals listening to their tape, "Farmer Boy", I believe.
Julia is reading "Rebecca", in a big, comfy chair.
Stan Lee, Sophia, and Nicholai are curled up on the couch, watching the new "Christmas Carol". Judging from their laughter, it must be good :)
~
Today though, was so nice and sunny.
Stan Lee and I bundled up ( me, being the cold hater- more so than Stan Lee ) warmly and headed out for a walk after dinner.
The littles came and joined us on our way back, and after we returned a big pot of tea and lemon poppy seed bread were well in order....
~
It is amazing all you can find to do inside here, during the long winter. But after it hits the four month mark, it is time to brave the cold and try going out for some walks.
~
I always love finding new quotes, and today I found some of the *very* best, courtesy for Mr. A.A. Milne, one of my favorite authors....

“If there ever comes a day when we can't be together keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever”

“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.”

“Promise me you'll never forget me, because if I thought you would I'd never leave.”

“If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”

and my favorite...

“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. I'll always be with you.”

~
And I'm off to go work on my knitting, read a bit and listen to my Phantom Of The Opera score, that is just arrived from the library....

  2. Rosie, I truly enjoy your blog. Today I especially like your quotes. I am a wife of 41 years and mother of 3 children and grandmother of 3 with a new grandchild expected at the end of March. I have always said that I hoped that the Good Lord would bring me home 1 day before any of my earthly family.
I enjoy your pictures, your quotes, and your love for the Lord and the peaceful way of life that you live.
    God Bless

  4. Hello Rosie,

It all sounds so lovely. We are having the other extreme here. So so hot for the last few days. 43degrees centigrade that's about 106f in your terms and very high humidity.
What I wouldn't give for a fall of snow. I can imagine you're all looking forward to spring.
I love those quotes. so nice to use lovely quotes on birthday cards and letters.

Enjoy your knitting, reading and your Phantom (beautiful). Have you ever listened to the music from Calamity Jane. I watch the movie with my 89 year old Dad a couple of evenings ago. Just beautiful. You might find some of it on Youtube.

    Blessings Gail

  6. Love, love, love the Pooh quotes. Quite wise for Christopher Robin and a bear! We are in a winter wonderland here as well. We got 22 inches of snow from the big storm and it looks like another 2 inches or more last night. I am like you, every once in a while I do have to get out and breathe in the fresh, exhilirating air! Much love to all, I am thinking August thoughts! Raquel XOxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoXO

  7. Rosie,
Love the new look of your blog, but I'm having a little bit of a hard time reading it. It might be better with white letters.

    Love reading about your days.
    Blessings to you,
    Cathy

  9. Beautiful, one can tell how lovely you are on the inside as well as out... from words written. :)

Sigh... it is snowing here again. I love snow but there can be too much of a good thing. Although it does give an excellent excuse to stay inside baking and reading.

My daughter e-mailed me a new lemon bar recipe to use up Meyer lemons... I'm going to make them this afternoon.

  10. Such a sweet snippet of a lovely, cozy time in your home. I love all the quotes and the beautiful photo. We are also finding ways to stay occupied inside here in snowy Ohio--not an easy feat for three active boys, but they are good at finding creative ways to channel all that energy. Of course, it helps that they love to read, too.

  14. I like the new look of your blog. I understand the having to get out. We have more gray then cold so when the sun finally comes out, it is time for a walk.
